Part of the
on-going mission of Pillows-of-Love is to encourage people to serve
those in need right in their own communities. While there are many
suffering around the world, there are countless numbers in crisis in
our own cities and towns.
3rd Annual Pillowcase Derby
One way to get involved with Pillows-of-Love is to participate in the 3rd Annual Pillowcase Derby. The 2009 Pillowcase Derby will be held on April 25 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. It will take place at the Chocolatetown Square in Hershey, located next to the First United Methodist Church of Hershey on Chocolate Avenue. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the basement of the church. 
Children will be running, skipping, walking and jumping with their feet inside a pillowcase around a course at the Chocolatetown Square. The participants will obtain sponsors to help raise funds. The objective is to complete as many laps as possible. All money raised will be used to purchase fabric needed make the special pillowcases and to buy the Bibles put in each pillowcase. There will also be prizes, crafts, cookie decorating, a puppet team, bake sale, and face painting. Each participate will receive a free lunch and family, friends and supporters can purchase lunch as well.
